What is the purpose of this guide?

The purpose of this guide is to help collectors find out how much a certain Japanese Transformer is worth and for sellers to know what prices they can sell their goods for. No buyer wants to be ripped off and pay too much for a figure, nor does any seller want to overprice a toy to the point that it won't sell.

Why does this guide only cover Japanese Transformers?

Ever tried looking for a guide price for a Japanese Transformer? It's not easy. I tried looking for an online price guide for Japanese Transformers through Google and found nothing. There are plenty of guides out there for North-American and Euro-Australasian Transformers, but none for Japanese Transformers. So I decided to make one. Neat, huh?

Note: This guide only covers Japanese exclusive Transformers - that is, Transformers that were only available in Japan, such as the Multi-Force and Metro Titan. It does not include Japanese versions of figures that were also available in Western countries, like Rodimus Convoy (Rodimus Prime) or Guardian (Defensor). There is a separate table for Japanese reissues here.

How do I find my Japanese Transformer on the guide?

There are two guide tables. One is listed by name - the names are all Romanised and listed in alphabetical order. The second list is by product number, such as C-108 or D-309 etc. If you don't know the name of your Japanese Transformer, but you know the product number (which is shown on the package and tech specs in alphanumeric characters), then you can look up the name and guide price for that Transformer by looking up their product number.

If you obtained your Japanese Transformer loose without package and you don't know the name or product number of your Transformer, then it will be harder to identify your Transformer, but not impossible. Each Transformer name is hyperlinked to a web site that has photos of the toy. If you have absolutely no idea which Transformer you have, you may have to click on each link and look at through all the photos until you find which one is your suspect.

How were these prices determined?

The prices on this guide are based on ToyFare's Japanese Transformers Price Guide, which it occasionally publishes in special issues (although not every issue). Prices have been converted from US to Australian dollars at the rate of US$1.00 = AU$1.47. Figures are rounded to the nearest dollar. To convert prices to non-Australian currencies, I recommend using the Universal Currency Converter.

How To Use This Price Guide

There are two prices listed on this guide. The first is the Mint In Package (MIP) price, the second is the Loose Mint (LM) price. These prices are what is considered "100% guide". Now here is how you calculate the value of a toy based on the guide price:
